How Much Waste

Ground breaking year for ExactET

<< back to releases

It was another banner year for Canada’s leader in climate controlled irrigation.

Despite an erratic weather pattern – highlighted by the flood that devastated large tracts of southern Alberta – ExactET still managed to save its 600 plus clients a grand total of 430 million litres of potable water.

That is a new record for the company, as is the reduction of more than $880,000 in its customers’ utility bills.

“It was a strange summer weather-wise,” said ExactET’s CEO, Graham Duffy.

“For much of Canada, the first half of the irrigation system saw an early start followed by cool wet weather,” he said, “while the second half was highlighted by hotter and drier conditions. “

Duffy continued, “In Calgary, for example, rainfall for July through September was 14.5 per cent below normal while temperatures were 28.3 above average.”

By converting to climate controlled irrigation, ExactET’s clients reduced water consumption by 39 per cent (in 2012 it was 30 per cent and in 2011 it was 47 per cent).

Multi-family residential complexes saved an average of 1.6 million litres of water, and commercial properties saved an average of 1.1 million litres.

Since its launch in 2006, ExactET has saved supporters 1.9 billion litres of potable water.

The company’s new clients include CREIT, Epic Realty, Pure Industrial Real Estate (PITET), Bentall Kennedy Retail, Avenue Commercial, Simco Management and View West Management.
