Epcor posted the Water and Wastewater Treatment Rates for the City of Edmonton, effective April 1, 2014.
Residential, multi-residential and commercial customers are charged a combined Water and Wastewater Treatment Consumption Charge for irrigation usage. In addition to this Water/Wastewater Charge, irrigation also attracts a Drainage Sanitary Charge - a consumption charge billed by Epcor on behalf of the City of Edmonton.
Thus, the full cost of irrigation usage, is the combined charges for:
- Water Consumption
- Wastewater Treatment
- Drainage - Sanitary Utility
The 2014 rates for these three charges are as follows:
2014 Consumption Rate Increases:
- Water Consumtion Rate increase: 3.0% (effective April1, 2014)
- Wastewater Treatment Rate increase: 7.7% (effective April 1, 2014)
- Drainage - Sanitary Rate Increase: 9% (effective January 1, 2014)
2014 Water Consumption Charge per cubic meter (m3):
- Residential: $1.7990 (0 m3 - 310.0 m); $1.9653 (10.1m3 - 35.0m3); and, $2.4837 (over 35.0m3)
- Multi-Residential: $1.7457 (0 m3 - 100.0 m3); $1.4605 (100.1m3 - 1,000.0m3); and, $1.2067 (over 1,000.0m3)
- Commercial: $1.3693 (0 m3 - 25.0 m3); $1.3693 (25.1m3 - 100.0m3); $1.2629 (100.1m3 - 1,000.0m3); $0.9995 (1,000.1m3 - 5,000.0m3); and, $0.8046 (over 5,000.0m3)
2014 Wastewater Treatment Consumption Charge per cubic meter (m3):
- Residential: $0.6855 (all consumtion)
- Multi-Residential: $0.6855 (all consumtion)
- Commercial: $0.6855 (0 m3 - 10,000.0 m3); $0.5303 (10,000.1m3 - 100,000.0m3); and, $0.2767 (over 100,000.0m3)
2014 Drainage Charge - Sanitary Utility - Variable Rate:
- $0.8608 per cubic meter (charged to all customer classes)
By way of example, a typical commercial property will be paying around $2.5458 per cubic meter in 2014 (i.e. water $0.9995 + wastewater $0.6855 + Drainage-Sanitary $0.8608). An overall increase of 6.2% from the comparable charge in 2013.
