2016 City of Calgary Water Rates for Irrigation Customers

For irrigation customers the key take-away from the 2016 City of Calgary Water Rates is the move towards incentivising customers with a separate irrigation meter.

For 2016 the Irrigation Service Rate (i.e. customers with a separate irrigation meter) declines 5.1% while the combined Water & Wastewater Charge (i.e. customers without a separate irrigation meter) increases 7.1% -10.3% for non-residential customers.  A similar story will unfold in 2017-2018, the Irrigation Service Rate will continue to decrease slightly while the Wastewater Rate will be hiked 14-15% annually.

By 2018 the Water Rate 'penalty' for those non-residential customers without a separate irrigation meter will be between $0.5053/m3 and $0.959/m3, depending on customer classification.

For 2016 the Water Rates for irrigation water usage are as follows:

2016 Irrigation Water Usage  - separate irrigation meter:

    Irrigation Service Rate - $2.7402 per cubic meter (2015: $2.8886)

2016 Irrigation Water Usage - no separate irrigation meter:

    Multi-Family Residential  - combined Water & Wastewater Rates - $3.114 per cubic meter (2015: $2.9076)
    Residential Customers - combined Water & Wastewater Rates - $3.0955 per cubic meter (2015: $2.8726)
    Commercial Customers, with meter less than 75mm - combined Water & Wastewater Rates -  $2.7711 per cubic meter (2015: $2.5799)
    Commercial Customers, with meter greater than or equal to 75mm - combined Water & Wastewater Rates -  $2.4541 per cubic meter (2015: $2.2251)
