Southcentre Mall realizes water savings of 1 million gallons in 2006
ExactET announced today that their installation of Rain Bird's ET Manager at Southcentre Mall generated irrigation water savings of 1 million gallons in 2006. This represents a savings of 43% to Southcentre Malls average annual water consumption for outdoor irrigation. This result is particularly impressive considering these documented 2006 savings occurred during a hotter and drier than average irrigation season (April - September) in Calgary. Historical Evapotranspiration (ET) losses for Calgary during this period averaged 22.07 inches. ET losses for the 2006 irrigation season were 28.49 inches, 29% higher than average.
"We are extremely impressed with the results generated from ExactET's installation in 2006 of ET Manager. The significant water savings not only have meant that it virtually paid for itself in the first year, but more importantly these savings have greatly contributed to our company's environmental and conservation goals. Our landscape has never looked healthier or greener" said Rob Gray, Operations Manager, Southcentre Mall.
"As a result of the success with ET Manager at Southcentre, our company, Ivanhoe Cambridge, is looking to install ET Manager in many of our other high quality regional and super-regional shopping centres."
