Huge Water Savings in Mississauga
The Installation of a revolutionary weather-based irrigation system at four Mississauga industrial properties saved almost three million litres of water in June, July and August.
“The results are particularly impressive when you consider these savings were generated during a hotter and drier summer than usual,” said Chris Le Conte, president of the installation company, Smart Watering Systems.
Le Conte’s company uses the Rain Bird ET (Evavotranspiration) Manager program. ET Manager eliminates the need for personal management of irrigation systems by automatically adjusting existing controllers as weather conditions change.
“With ET Manager, you just set and forget,” said Le Conte.
Dennis Pasut, senior property manager for the Orlando Corporation, which owns the four Mississauga properties, said, “We are very happy with the performance of the ET Manager thus far.
“We have realized 32 per cent water savings in a hot, dry year, and in addition our landscaping looks great.”
Pasut added, “We have also saved man hours by not having to manually adjust our irrigation controllers.
“The new system is managing our landscape, saving us water and contributing to Orlando’s environmental and conservations goals.”
